We invite you for the concert entitled “Czyżby lato?”, which will be the culmination of this year of work for the CZYŻby Orchestra functioning in the Arthur Rubinstein Łódź Philharmonic. The ensemble will perform for the first time with a new brass section, whose members joined the orchestra after the February auditions. “They are true enthusiasts, people, who do entirely different things in their daily lives” says the conductor of the ensemble Artur Koza. “Among them are computer scientists, doctors, teachers, office workers. The age range is also significant: from students to people right before their 50th birthdays. Despite these differences, they get along splendidly. They emphasize that they found pure joy in their shared musicianship within the orchestra.

The program will include pieces from various eras and genres, which will transport us to sunny countries with their sounds, such as the “El Choclo” tango by Ángel Villoldo, a fragment of the symphonic suite “Scheherazade” by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and the “Aragonaise”, “Habanera” and the Triumphal March from the opera “Aida” by Giuseppe Verdi, as well as “Carmen” by Georges Bizet.

The CZYŻby orchestra will be accompanied by the Academic Slavic Nations Music Ensemble “Bałałajki”, a group with more than half a century of tenure that brings together youth from universities and high schools. The ensemble, conducted by Barbara Sobolczyk, will perform traditional Slavic melodies from different countries in Europe, such as Poland, Ukraine and Macedonia. We will hear unusual, rich instrumentation that makes the Łódź ensemble stand out: balalaikas and domras of different sizes, two guitars and a folk harp.
