Michał Nesterowicz

Over the years Michał Nesterowicz has been consolidating his position as one of the most recognizable Polish conductors in the world. Recognition from music enthusiasts and critics has opened the doors for him to the most prestigious concert halls and collaborations with such ensembles as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Gewandhausorchester, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, and the Wiener Tonkünstler-Orchester.

He is the winner of the 2008 Cadaqués Orchestra International Conducting Competition and one of the laureates of the 6th Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors in Katowice. In the upcoming 11th edition of the competition (in 2024), he will serve as a jury member.

He regularly collaborates with orchestras such as: the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, the Münchner Philharmoniker, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice, the hr-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, the WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, the Orquestra Gulbenkian, the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, the Copenhagen Philharmonic, the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine, and the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana.

He served as principal guest conductor of the Sinfonieorchester Basel (2016–2020), principal conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife (2012–2016), artistic director of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Chile (2008–2012), and artistic director of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic (2004–2008). For years he has collaborated with the Arthur Rubinstein Philharmonic Orchestra in Łódź, where he serves as principal guest conductor.

In the 2022/2023 season, Nesterowicz is going to debut with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra, the Stuttgart Philharmoniker, and the Pacific Symphony Orchestra w USA; he is also going to return to the hr-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt, the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, the Phion Orchestra, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Polish National Philharmonic in Warsaw. Other major events in the upcoming season include performances with the Orquestra Sinfónica de Galicia, the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, the Residentie Orkest in the Haag, and the Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra in Katowice.

Michał Nesterowicz hails from Wrocław; he has graduated from the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, where he studied with Prof. Marek Pijarowski.
