Colours of Poland

It’s time for the 26th edition of the Travelling ”Colours of Poland” Festival!

After last year’s tumultuous celebration of the 25th edition of the festival, this year we offer you many brand new experiences: new venues, new artists and ensembles, new accompanying events. We sincerely hope that, just like us, you are excited for another summer with Colours!

This year’s repertoire has something for everyone – the festival’s stages will host author’s songs (Wojciech Myrczek i reinterpretacje tekstów Wojciecha Młynarskiego), jazz music (Michał Tokaj Quintet z utworami Andrzeja Trzaskowskiego), traditional music (the Michalove trio from Central Pomerania) and early music (Białystok’s DILETTO ensemble with a repertoire devoted to the connection between XVII century Poland and Italy). We will listen to artists who perform the Łódź Philharmonic (such as the recently founded quintet Modern Brass Łódź) as well as the biggest stars of Polish jazz music (Adam Bałdych, Krzysztof Herdzin, Henryk Miśkiewicz); there also will not be a shortage of philharmonic ensembles (the Sudecka Philharmonic).

Compositions that were created particularly for this year’s edition of ”Colours” will occupy a special place in the programme – the ”Reymont Suite” by Krzysztof Falkowski inspired by ”The Promised Land”, ”The Peasants” and ”Comedienne” which will be performed in Lipce by Falkowski Orchestra and the CHRUST ensemble, the orchestrated arrangements of the Łódź regional folk songs, which will be performer in Inowłódz by the Grochman Orchestra that is celebrating its anniversary and poems which is in dialogue with the sonnets of Antonio Vivaldi authored by Professor Jerzy Jarniewicz, who will be a special guest of the Tansman String Quartet concert in Paradyż. Just like every previous year, the festival will be closed by a final concert in the Łódź Philharmonic concert hall. This time the concert will be elevated by the presence of Big Band Fabryka, which, along with special guests Henryk Miśkiewicz and Krystyna Prońko will take us on a journey in the footsteps of Polish swing.

The festival map will show a few new venues – true touristic gems of the Łódź voivodeship: the neogothic temple in Złaków Kościelny that towers over the nearby sloughs, the amphitheater in Smardzewice with an exceptional view onto the Sulejów Reservoir, or the modern recreational complex situated in the vicinity of the Smardzewice water reserve. The audience of ”Colors” will also have the opportunity to revisit locations that are familiar to them from previous editions: the picturesque ruins of the Kazimierzowski Castle in Inowłódz or the baroque, post-Bernardine monastery in Paradyż.
