Colours of Poland

Astonishing interiors, charming open air venues and artistic discoveries – time for the 27^th edition of “Colours of Poland”!

Just like every summer, we leave the building at Narutowicza street and take off into the Łódzkie region to reach known and unknown places with music – from antique spaces, through church naves to temptingly green outdoor spaces. This year’s route will have 13 stops – these will include the bigger sites in the region (Poddębice, Rawa Mazowiecka), localities known to tourists and history lovers (Sulejów, Gidle, Smardzewice) as well as places outside of the typical sightseeing trails. You can undertake this musical journey with us during the holiday weekends from mid-July to the end of August. The finale of the festival will, as always, occur on the last Sunday of the holiday period in the building of the Łódź Philharmonic.

This year’s program will be characterized by exceptional versatility: the symphony will intertwine with tango, traditional music will meet sung poetry while classical chamber music will combine with jazz, or even… punk. A special place in our program is held by premieres: Apertus Quartet and Andrzej Olejniczak will present their new repertoire “Different Choice, Different Times, Different music” while the baroque Altberg Ensemble will play a selection of pieces from the Gidle sheet music material, which will be recorded just a couple of days earlier for the purpose of their new album. We will also hear commissions for the Łódź Philharmonic: arrangements of pieces from the repertoire of Mieczysław Fogg for a symphony orchestra and a new piece by Hania Derej for piano and string orchestra.

The listeners can get to the Saturday concerts using the Łódź Agglomeration Railway and the free Railway Bus Communication buses. On Sundays, the Marshal’s Office of the Łódzkie Region invites you to partake in trips that are part of the popular cycle entitled “Koloryt Łódzkiego”, which allows to combine the participation in concerts with the discovery of the most interesting places in the region with a tour guide.
