Lately more and more attention and acclaim has been gained by female conductors. The 44-year old Marzena Diakun from Poland is among the best of them. She is the laureate of two international conductor competitions (Prague Spring in 2007 and the IXth Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors in 2012), a scholarship holder of the Marin Alsop Taki Concordia Fellowship for the best female conductors and the recipient of the “Polityka” Passport in 2016 granted for her “consistent  and brilliant development of personality and conductor career despite any difficulties”. With the start of the 2026/2027 season she will take up the position of the principal conductor in the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie in Koblenz. The artist will lead performances of late romantic composers: Camille Saint-Saëns, who combined a quintessentially French tone sensitivity with elegant eclecticism, and Anton Bruckner, one of the greatest symphony composers of the XIXth century. The piano part will be played by Szymon Nehring, the winner of numerous piano competitions, including being the first Polish person to win the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Tel-Aviv and a finalist of the Chopin Piano Competition (2015). He will perform the Second Piano Concerto of Saint-Saëns, one of his most famous works that was supposedly written in a record time of just 17 days.

At 6:15 PM we invite you to the Henryk Czyż Chamber Hall for a pre-concert meeting led by Marcin Majchrowski.
