Jakub Jakowicz, who is currently the resident artist of the Łódź Philharmonic, will showcase his prowess as a seasoned chamber musician. Playing in smaller lineups is an important part of his career. For many years he has been playing in a duet with his father Krzysztof, he has also played with many other artists such as Garrick Ohlsson and Anna Maria Staśkiewicz. He was the first violinist of the Lutosławski Quartet, the ensemble connected to the National Forum of Music in Wrocław, where he recorded, among others, renditions of all string quartets composed by Grażyna Bacewicz. He has also been a member of the Zehetmair Quartet for 20 years. On this April evening, the Łódź Philharmonic will resound with the music of the album released in June of 2025 by Jakowicz, the Lutosławski Quartet and the finnish pianist Paavali Jumppanen, which was filled with the compositions of Ernest Chausson, a French composer of the second half of the XIXth century. The music from the banks of the Seine will also be represented by a composition by Gabriel Fauré. The pieces of the French masters of subtle tonality are unconnected to the music of Grażyna Bacewicz only at first glance. The Łódź composer studied in Paris under the legendary Nadia Boulanger. Her tonal sensitivity, while expressed differently, is distinctly present in the String Quartet No. 4, which received the first place prize at the Liège Composer Competition.
