Komeda Inspiration returns to the Łódź Philharmonic with a special setlist based on the music of Krzysztof Komeda. Jazz improvisation meets the monumental sounds of the pipe organ and the movie-like atmosphere of known themes. The stage will host the performances of distinguished Polish jazz artists: the vocalist Anna Serafińska and the trumpet player Robert Majewski, while this whole musical universe revolves around Jan Bokszczanin.
Komeda Inspiration is an original project of one of the most prominent Polish organ players that combines jazz improvisation with the sound of the pipe organ and the aesthetics of film music. The project had its debut at the Colours of Poland Festival and the fruits of its labour were solidified on the 2010 album recorded together with the most renowned jazz musicians of Poland.
Over the years, the project had many participants such as Grażyna Auguścik, Agnieszka Wilczyńska, Janusz Szrom, Robert Majewski, Tomasz Szukalski, Piotr Wojtasik, Piotr Baron, Tomasz Grzegorski and Paweł Gusnar. Currently, its lineup includes Anna Serafińska and Robert Majewski while the pipe organ of Jan Bokszczanin remains the artistic centre of the undertaking.
The program of the Łódź Philharmonic concert is based on the music of Krzysztof Komeda – one of the most important figures of Polish jazz and film music – which includes such pieces as Knife in the Water, Rosemary's baby, Two Men and a Wardrobe, Before the Day Comes, The Grey Carol and many others.
The description of the event was provided by the authors of the project.
