Matinée is the French word for the morning. During the concerts under that banner we will hear young, promising instrumentalists. Just like the morning carries the promise of the day with its whole potential richness, the young artists are standing at the door of their adult concerting lives, about to realise their potential. Gaja Wilewska, the third-year student at the Poznań Musical Academy in the violin class of prof. Bartosz Bryła and PhD Aleksandra Bryła, is already the laureate of more than 100 violin competitions, including international ones in Italy, France, Switzerland, Austria, Japan and others. Among the most important ones were: the XVIth International Violin Competition. K. Lipiński and H. Wieniawski in Lublin (2024), the XXXIth International Leoš Janáček Competition in Brno (2025) and the Vth International Violin Competition “Paganini w Puławach” (2026). Dawid Kasprzak, who began his musical education in Łódź, currently studies at the Colburn Conservatory in Los Angeles under Robert Lipsett. Among other accolades, he was the finalist of the BBC Young Musician Competition (2022) and the laureate of the second place prize at the Grumiaux International Violin Competition in Brussels (2023). He is also an active chamber musician as part of the Kontrapunktus ensemble. Owing to the hospitality of Simon and Peter Dee Shapland, Kasprzak plays the French J.B. Vuillaume violin made in 1849.
