We invite you for an evening filled with music created to the lyrics of one of the most acclaimed poets in history – William Shakespeare. The Łódź Philharmonic Choir conducted by Artur Koza will perform the pieces of different composers and in different styles that take inspiration from the work of the great Stratford-upon-Avon playwright. From the famous “Shall I Compare Thee to A Summer’s Day?” to atmospheric songs about nature and the passage of time – it is a concert that will remind us of the timeless power of poetry and showcase the many ways in which the arts of words and sounds can come into dialogue with each other.
We will hear prominent compositions of the creators of the XXth and the XXIth century which will shed a new light on the texts created more than 400 years ago: the works of such artists as Roman Ryterband, Sven-Eric Johanson and Ralph Vaughan Williams. To facilitate the understanding of the lyrical side of the performance by everyone, the music will be accompanied by the recitations of Shakespeare’s works by Szymon Nygard, a versatile Łódź actor who is well known from the screens of our televisions.
