The outstanding Georgian pianist who is currently living in the United States will perform his interpretation of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto in D minor – a piece in which the composer combined the virtuosity and bravado of the works from his youth with a tinge of contemplation and melancholy. This concerto, just like his three others, arises from his piano prowess and is a testament to his excellent command and understanding of this instrument. The preserved recordings of Rachmaninoff’s playing prove that apart from his extraordinary technical ease he also exhibited a rich palette of expression. His sound was powerful, melodious and incredibly malleable with a simultaneous subtlety of expression. The listeners notice similar qualities in the playing of Korsantia. The reviewers applauded his “clarity of technique, diverse tonality and dynamic phrasing” (“Baltimore Sun”) and “piano technique in which difficulties simply do not exist” (“Calgary Sun”). The Georgian virtuoso has been performing with prominent orchestras of the whole world. He is also an acclaimed pedagogue and jury member. His international career began with the first-place prize and the gold medal at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition (1995) and winning the Sydney International Piano Competition (1988).

At 6:15 PM we invite you to the Henryk Czyż chamber hall for a pre-concert meeting led by Piotr Mika (“Ruch Muzyczny”).
